Gang History

 The birth of the Gang dates back to October 1990 when four original members of the Gang playing at the time in a band called 'The Finkers' decided to do a set of 70's classics at the Eureka Hotel. The set was such a success that a fifth member was added and in January 1992 the band debuted as 'Yesterdays Heroes'. The name 'Yesterdays Heroes' was stolen by a Melbourne based band and after performing as 'Galactic Stardust' for one show the band settled on 'Glitter Gang' as its new name. The original line up of The Fink (Vocals, guitar), Riff-Raff Rogey (Guitar, vocals), Sticky Stardust (Drums) and Marsha Brady (Guitar, vocals) and Astro Macca (Bass) continued for just over a year until Sticky was replaced on drums by Derek Delicious. Astro also left the band in 1993 and was replaced by Bubbles LeBeau who remained with the 'Gang' until May 1995.

       Bobby Dazzler played his first show with the Gang in July 1995. It was shortly after that 'The Fink' collapsed on stage. Tragically  'The Fink' was unable to continue but as fortune has it  'Barry Glitter' was in the crowd. Barry hit the stage with the Gang delivering a mind blowing performance of classic 70's Glam Rock. The 'Gang' were so impressed that Barry was invited to join the band.  In 1996 Riff-Raff Rogey departed and the band took an extended break while Marsha and Delicious went overseas. Johnny G-String replaced Riff-Raff on guitar and was with the Gang until June 1997. It was at this stage that the Gang took I slightly different direction. Rather than recruiting another guitarist the Gang chose keyboards instead and in October 1997 Stevie Knievel joined the band. Derek took off overseas again in March 1998 and was permanently replaced by Dirk Diggler. The Gang celebrated its 10th Anniversary in March 2002 with a reunion concert featuring most of the past Gang members.
